FAIR ways Award
The FAIR ways sponsorship award is entering the next round: the application phase for the 13th FAIR ways sponsorship award, which is presented by SC Freiburg and 15 exclusive cooperation partners, has been running since February 1, 2024. For the eighth time, the Franz Morat Group, as a FAIR ways partner of SC Freiburg, is supporting the award, which has become one of the most important in the region. Non-profit initiatives, associations and institutions with projects related to the topics of exercise, education, ecology and solidarity in the region of South Baden can apply for funding until March 31, 2024.
FAIR ways – What is it?
FAIR ways is a prize awarded to charitable projects in the South Baden area. Since the 2011/2012 season, the prize has been awarded under the direction of SC Freiburg together with a limited number of partners. This year, for the first time, a total of €100,000 is available. The prize money will be awarded in installments to charitable institutions and projects in the region that have been selected by a jury of experts. In addition to the financial support, the highlight is the special prize “Good Deed with Radio and Poster”, in which a project can win an advertising campaign and thus get the opportunity to present itself to a broad public in Freiburg and advertise itself through radio advertising and professionally designed posters.
Who can apply?
Projects or institutions that are committed to society can apply: for sustainable support in popular sports as well as in the areas of education, ecology and social affairs.
For the 12th FAIR ways Award last year, the jury selected a total of 47 prize winners from 113 applications received, around half of whom had already received funding in previous years. The remaining projects were funded for the first time.
Which projects have been funded so far?
Last year's award winners included projects for violence prevention and mental health promotion, as the following examples show:
The association FrauenMädchenGesundheitsZentrum (FMGZ e.V.) was awarded for its valuable work in the prevention of sexual violence. The funding program “Yes means Yes and No means No” - Violence Prevention in Elementary Schools aims to empower girls and boys in elementary schools to defend themselves against (sexual) violence. Implementing the program in schools offers the opportunity to reach children from socially disadvantaged families and to create a protected space for this topic.
The Freiburger Hilfsgemeinschaft e.V., which was founded in 1970, was also able to celebrate in 2023 when it received the FAIR ways award. The focus of the non-profit organization is to help people with mental illnesses to re-enter active and social lives by providing transportation and companionship services after they have been discharged from the hospital.
Other less traditional associations were also honored, such as the Low-threshold Suicide Prevention Association, founded in 2021 and based in Freiburg. With the MANO - Online Counseling for Suicidal Adults project, the association is providing an educational service that can literally save lives. The FAIR ways award honors the commitment to easily accessible help for people in suicidal crises. This enables the association to expand its range of support services in the future and to organize network meetings and further training courses where life-saving knowledge about suicidal tendencies and suicide prevention is imparted.
